Chris Finch & Susan Olive help promote the Welly Walk in Bell St.
Cancer Charity shop in Bell Street promotes the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity’s Welly Walk in Hatfield Forest later this month... Volunteers at the charity’s shop in Bell Street updated the window display at the start of September to boost interest in the charity’s fundraising walk. Sheila Stiffal, a volunteer at the shop, changed the window in a bid to boost numbers of customers encouraged to join the walk. The shop is now stocked with registration forms for the walk and lots of customers have been asking about the window display.
The Welly Walk will guide walkers on a 5km (3.2mile) circular walk through Hatfield Forest (National Trust). Hatfield Forest is more than 1000 years old and was once a medieval hunting estate: a popular site for picnics, walks, cycle rides, getting close to nature which is the ideal location to show off those wild and wacky wellies while raising money for our services. The Helen Rollason Cancer Charity has a support centre based in High Wych offering cancer patients and their carers reflexology, manual lymph drainage, aromatherapy and counselling which opened last November. Linda Bowler, co-ordinator at the Helen Rollason Cancer Support Centre in Sawbridgeworth, said: “Walk for someone you know who has suffered with cancer, walk for someone who has been helped by the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity or just walk for fun! “You really can make a difference by helping to raise money by joining this year’s Welly Walk! Why not dig out those jazzy and wacky wellies and join us on this year’s Welly Walk?!”
The walk starts and finishes at the Shell House Car Park on Saturday September 25, 2010 at 10.15am. This walk is open to adults and children plus well-behaved dogs, but please bear in mind that the route is not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs as it takes walkers through woodland. It costs £10 per adult to register, children under 16 go free and concessions are £6. There is parking at the Shell House Car Park, Hatfield Forest, Takeley, Essex CM22 6NE. It costs £1 to park before 9.30am on the day unless you are a National Trust member, meaning you can park for free.
