HEBFest the Third Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th October 2009, 11am to 11 pm. The Branch is looking forward to their third annual festival to be held at The Memorial Hall, Sawbridgeworth, Herts CM21 9BD. This festival has grown bigger and better each year: last year we had twenty eight real ales, this year there will be over thirty, as well as a selection of cider and perry. The 2008 festival had an excellent turnout, with the hall being busy at all times and it was packed on the Friday evening. This will be the third festival run by HEB this year, after the extremely successful Gibberd Gardens and Bishop’s Stortford Festivals.
The signed pedestrian route, taking about 10 minutes to walk from Sawbridgeworth Rail Station and from the bus stops was much appreciated, as driving to a Real Ale Festival is not a good idea, if one plans to sample the ales! Sawbridgeworth is on the mainline Liverpool Street-Cambridge and there are frequent buses from Harlow, Epping and Bishop’s Stortford, with a 5 minute walk.
The hall is an attractive venue, with plenty of seating and a kitchen providing hot and cold snacks until 10 pm. The ales this year will be both from local and West Country breweries, with some not usually seen outside Devon. Soft drinks and wine will also be available. A bottled beer stand will feature and there will be no music.
Admission is free to card carrying CAMRA members at all times and costs £2 to non members after 5 pm. Under 18s are permitted with a responsible adult until 7 pm. If anyone looks under 21 and is not accompanied, a valid photo ID will be required for admission.

From: 15-February-2011 at 10,00am To: 15-February-2011
Location: Meet 10am Pishiobury Park main car park.
We will be doing the tree planting that we should have done before Christmas when the weather prevented us from doing so. There are oak to plant and circles of hawthorn round the circular tree groups or 'roundels', all will help to restore historic landsscape features of the park. Once the planting is done we will be pruning and thinning in Nursery Wood and future tasks in late March and April will be to install new oak benches around the park.
All tools and drinks will be provided.

Synopsis of Play This play is a fictionalised account of a true story, the plot centres on Bob and Barbara Jackson (in real life Bill and Ruth Search) and their teenage daughter Julie (in real life,Gay Search later a television reporter and newspaper journalist in the UK.) The Jackson’s are friendly with their neighbours, Peter and Helen Kroger, Set in the backdrop of the Cold war where there was a real fear of world domination and World War three with the Soviet Union The Krogers are actually characters based on real spies Morris and Lorna Cohen, who during the 1950s and 60s worked with fellow spy Gordon Lonsdale photographing and encoding as microdots various pieces of material which they then sent to their colleagues in the former Soviet Union. The play is a psychological thriller based on their close friendship with each other, until external forces in the shape of spycatcher Stewart and his agents Thelma and Sally test it and break it apart. It is a story of friendship verses loyalty and the question is, where does your loyalty lie ?

Date for your Diary

The next market is in the planning, for now here is a short report on one of our best Sawbridgeworth Farmers'Markets to date. Yes you have missed it! Or for all who attended, thank you for your support. This was a really great food, social and community event. The festive Xmas Farmers’ Market held on 21st of Dec had prime quality fresh local produce in abundance. Crowds of people turned out in the very bright December sunshine (12.3c)making it a perfect mid winter’s day. All the trappings were there to experience, to eat to drink to taste to bake and to buy. Award winning cheeses a complete range of smoked food products as well as organic vegetables that were picked just a day before. There was a full range of wild game products an award winning pigeon pate and a hot hog roast that completely sold out. Local producers of fresh food and some crafts did very well and this market reflects the true ethos of support for a local economy. The market provided the perfect venue for families and friends to meet each other highlighting the social cohesiveness of local markets. Students from the Leventhorpe School ran the Tea and coffee stall and this was for a charitable project the students are running in the next year and this was also very well supported. Many of our shops opened especially for the day and did very well as a result
Happy New Year to all our customers and supporters at the Farmers'Market
