The next market is in the planning, for now here is a short report on one of our best Sawbridgeworth Farmers'Markets to date. Yes you have missed it! Or for all who attended, thank you for your support. This was a really great food, social and community event. The festive Xmas Farmers’ Market held on 21st of Dec had prime quality fresh local produce in abundance. Crowds of people turned out in the very bright December sunshine (12.3c)making it a perfect mid winter’s day. All the trappings were there to experience, to eat to drink to taste to bake and to buy. Award winning cheeses a complete range of smoked food products as well as organic vegetables that were picked just a day before. There was a full range of wild game products an award winning pigeon pate and a hot hog roast that completely sold out. Local producers of fresh food and some crafts did very well and this market reflects the true ethos of support for a local economy. The market provided the perfect venue for families and friends to meet each other highlighting the social cohesiveness of local markets. Students from the Leventhorpe School ran the Tea and coffee stall and this was for a charitable project the students are running in the next year and this was also very well supported. Many of our shops opened especially for the day and did very well as a result
Happy New Year to all our customers and supporters at the Farmers'Market

HEBFest the Third
From: 23-October-2009 at 11am1 To: 24-October-2009 at 11pm
Location: Memorial Hall, Sawbridgeworth
Herts and Essex Borders Campaign for Real Ale is proud to present:
HEBFest the Third Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th October 2009, 11am to 11 pm. The Branch is looking forward to their third annual festival to be held at The Memorial Hall, Sawbridgeworth, Herts CM21 9BD. This festival has grown bigger and better each year: last year we had twenty eight real ales, this year there will be over thirty, as well as a selection of cider and perry. The 2008 festival had an excellent turnout, with the hall being busy at all times and it was packed on the Friday evening. This will be the third festival run by HEB this year, after the extremely successful Gibberd Gardens and Bishop’s Stortford Festivals.
The signed pedestrian route, taking about 10 minutes to walk from Sawbridgeworth Rail Station and from the bus stops was much appreciated, as driving to a Real Ale Festival is not a good idea, if one plans to sample the ales! Sawbridgeworth is on the mainline Liverpool Street-Cambridge and there are frequent buses from Harlow, Epping and Bishop’s Stortford, with a 5 minute walk.
The hall is an attractive venue, with plenty of seating and a kitchen providing hot and cold snacks until 10 pm. The ales this year will be both from local and West Country breweries, with some not usually seen outside Devon. Soft drinks and wine will also be available. A bottled beer stand will feature and there will be no music.
Admission is free to card carrying CAMRA members at all times and costs £2 to non members after 5 pm. Under 18s are permitted with a responsible adult until 7 pm. If anyone looks under 21 and is not accompanied, a valid photo ID will be required for admission.

Location: Sawbridgeworth Town Centre
Merry Christmas!
Come and start your Christmas in Sawbridgeworth town centre! Take an opportunity to sample the range of local independent shops and get a bit of early Christmas shopping done. If you are coming by car there is free parking on the afternoon of Friday 28 November. Stay for the evening and see the Christmas lights come on…
The festivities start at 5.20pm with Christmas carols sung by Youth Create, accompanied by a band from Leventhorpe School.
Mayor Councillor Joyce Vincent will switch the lights on at 5.45pm and a visit from Father Christmas is expected around that time too! Stalls along the edge of the car park will be selling hot food and drinks. Under 16’s can enjoy a treasure hunt and retailers will find out who has won the ‘Best Christmas Window’ competition – with 2 prizes of £250 for a charity of their choosing at stake.
And if all that isn’t enough – you can pay a visit to the Fawbert and Barnard School bazaar which is being held on the same evening.
For more information call town clerk Richard Bowran, on 01279 724537.
Please note: Bell Street will be closed between the entrance and exit roads to the car park from 4.30pm to 6.30pm to allow the events to take place.
