Sports Clubs

Sawbridgeworth has a thriving sport network. We have great facilities right in the centre of town for cricket, bowls and tennis. The town football club, home of the ‘robins’, is off West Road. Venues and details of the many other sports available locally from martial arts and swimming, to yoga and gyms are listed here.

Sawbridgeworth Town FC play in the Essex Senior League.
The club also has a thriving Junior set up catering for the towns' youth from an under 6's side right up to under 17's as well as a competitive Ladies section. These units complement the clubs Senior Side and reserves and all compete under the umbrella of Sawbridgeworth Town Football Club. 	Picturesque cricket ground

Located on the east Hertfordshire and west Essex border, Sawbridgeworth is a friendly cricket club always welcoming new members and visitors. The Club boasts amongst the best facilities in Hertfordshire, a friendly and social atmosphere, and a long and proud history going back to 1862.

The club is affiliated to the Hertfordshire County Cricket Association, the Club Cricket Conference and is a member of the Home Counties Premier League and Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League.

We compete with six league XI's on a Saturday and two on a Sunday. The 1st XI play in Division Two East of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League, while the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th XI's are in Divisions 3, 8, 11, 13 and 14 of the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League.

The 1st XI also compete in four cup competitions: the Hertfordshire County Cup, the Club Cricket Conference Trophy, the ECB National Club Knockout Competition, as well as the ECB National Twenty20 Cup (Cockspur Cup).

We are also proud to have a thriving colts section, fielding teams for seven age groups and competing in the Hertfordshire youth leagues. For further information please visit our website.

	Our Club House

Sawbridgeworth Bowling Club is a flat green outdoor club and it's bowling season is from May to September each year. During the season a full programme of bowling is arranged of County Matches, East Hertfordshire Association Matches, interclub Matches and a full range of club and external competitions. New members are always welcome, from the local area, and are given instruction in bowling, the laws of bowling and the etiquette of the game.

During the winter months the bowling club buildings are used for social events when quiz nights, various competitions and race nights are organised. These social nights are usually held on the first and third Friday night in each month, October to March.

5. Sawbridgeworth Tennis Club

Sawbridgeworth Tennis Club's great facilities include:
- 3 Macadam courts with floodlights
- 3 Artificial grass courts with floodlights
- 4 Ariel Mini Tennis courts
- Clubhouse and studio

We currently include around 100 Senior members and 200 Juniors and Mini Tennis players.Members benefit from free court usage (outside match times) and access to the varied Coaching Sessions and Social Events.
Sawbo Juniors and Ariel Mini Tennis

For younger players, Ariel Mini Tennis is great fun for kids from 4 to 10 years old.
In school holidays there are some fantastic Holiday Camps for coaching, meeting new friends and loads of fun games.

	The hidden gems of Sawbridgeworth

Sawbridgeworth has a thriving angling scene with its very own private lake and sections of the River Stort. The lake is one of the best kept secrets in town and is set in beautiful surroundings just off of Hallingbury Road. If you are an angler looking for a good day's sport, whether as a pleasure angler, a carp angler, or keen match angler, why not consider becoming a member. Alternatively if you are looking for a pleasurable fishing experience in the Essex/Herts countryside, why not fish our sections of the River Stort.
